Opened back in 2017 by Black Sabbath’s Tony Iommi and part of BIMM University, BIMM Institute Birmingham is located in Digbeth, the city’s most exciting and creative quarter.
Birmingham’s undeniable musical heritage is paired with the very best modern technology and equipment in our Floodgate Street facilities.
Birmingham is the birthplace of many musical legends: heavy metal titans Black Sabbath and Judas Priest; rock icons Electric Light Orchestra, and in recent years Laura Mvula, Lady Leshurr and Jaykae, who have been paving the way for the next generation of musical talent. This musical heritage and dynamic local music scene is fuelled by some of the best new independent music venues and experimental artists that continue to push boundaries.
Birmingham has a huge number of students and young people – more than anywhere else in the UK – giving it a vibrant and dynamic feel. With its unrivalled nightlife and clubs, world-class library facilities and programme of inner-city festivals, this is a city made for students.

At BIMM Institute you’ll be surrounded by a community of fellow music lovers, all supporting each other and collaborating as you navigate through the industry together.
