SCHOOL OFFERS STUDENTS THE CHANCE TO ACHIEVE THEIR ACADEMIC GOALS AND BECOME PART OF THEIR LOCAL COMMUNITY WHILE LEARNING NEW SKILLS IN THE STATE-OF-THE-ART SIXTH FORM CENTRE

Edgbaston High School for Girls

CHOOSING a Sixth Form destination is an important decision, and staff understand that you want to know as much as possible about life at EHS Sixth Form.

The Sixth Form at Edgbaston High School for Girls represents the culmination of your school career, offering the opportunity to achieve academic goals, to contribute to the school and community life and to learn new, sometimes unexpected skills.

On joining the sixth form you will be placed in a tutor group of approximately 12 students and your personal tutor will be your principal advisor and staff contact throughout your two years here.

Your timetable will be structured to cover subject lessons, sessions on ‘thinking skills’, an enrichment programme and tutorials, all of which are compulsory.

The state-of-the-art Sixth Form Centre includes five new specialist teaching areas and a significantly improved general study area providing a wireless network and laptop computers.

In addition, girls benefit from an outside roof terrace social area, for use exclusively by sixth formers.

The examination record at A-level is impressive: a 100 per cent pass rate and 26 per cent of students achieving all A or A* grades means that all girls meet, and even surpass, their expectations to ensure they can go on to their chosen universities or careers of choice. Girls benefit from an excellent careers service and benefit from the ‘Athena Network’ connecting EHS alumni with current girls to offer advice and mentorship.

Staff encourage all to participate in a wide-ranging enrichment programme which introduces new subjects such as British Sign Language.

Entering sixth form is an exciting step. The aim is to ensure that you leave the EHS Sixth Form more than able to tackle university life and study, be an aware and responsible member of society with a sense of service and commitment whilst not diminishing your creativity and spontaneity!
