JTL has been helping young people to become qualified in the career of their choice for 28 years.
JTL has supported thousands of learners and businesses through apprenticeships in electrical installation, heating and ventilating, plumbing, engineering maintenance and property maintenance.
Liam Sammon, Commercial Director at JTL, said: “We are the leading training provider for apprentices in the building services engineering sector and work with over 3,000 businesses to make apprenticeships a simple and rewarding process.
As plumbers and electricians are retiring from the trade, there is an increasing shortage of qualified young people to replace them
“Over the last 28 years, we have seen increasing numbers of young people looking for a proven route to obtain a specialist career. The vast majority of school leavers considering their future careers are still encouraged to enter university in order to develop their career and yet few consider the benefits of an apprenticeship.”
In a recent YouGov survey commissioned by JTL and two of its partners, less than one in 12 students said that they had been advised to consider a work-based apprenticeship after leaving school.
In fact, 85 per cent of students were encouraged to enter further or higher education rather than look for work. Yet this leaves many graduates without a clear career path or the skills needed to achieve a well-paid job. At the same time, many businesses are currently struggling to find fresh new talent, specifically young
people who have the necessary industry qualifications to get started in areas like electrical installation.
Liam Sammon added: “Our experience has shown that many employers really appreciate the benefits of taking on an apprentice, as not only does it provide the
opportunity to train young people on the job, but it can often lead to apprentices choosing to stay with the employer to pursue a bright, long-term career.
“As plumbers and electricians are retiring from the trade, there is an increasing shortage of qualified young people to replace them.
“The apprenticeship route not only provides young people with the skills and qualifications they need for these jobs, but also introduces employers to new talent
with the eagerness to learn as they earn.
“As a forward-thinking company, JTL wants to encourage more young people, both men and women, to consider their career options when leaving school.
“JTL apprenticeships are suitable for everyone and we encourage applications from all members of the community.”
