Thomas Adams Sixth Form

SET in 30 acres, Thomas Adams is a successful school, sixth form and boarding house in the centre of Wem, North Shropshire.

At our sixth form site, we offer more than 25 subjects at A-level and BTEC combined with a community feel and excellent pastoral care. Serving 16 to 19-year-olds, our welcoming sixth form stands alone in its Noble Street campus, offering a genuine feeling of independence.

Our caring environment provides small class sizes, daily access to a tutor, supervised study sessions and excellent careers advice.

Self-study sessions take place in our attractive former grammar school buildings, supervised by our staff of committed and enthusiastic experts who help make learning rewarding every day. We also offer excellent guidance and support with accessing financial bursaries.

Many students travel from a wide catchment area on subsidised buses that run from Whitchurch, Shrewsbury, Market Drayton, Hodnet, Baschurch, Oswestry and Ellesmere. We have excellent rail links on the Manchester to Cardiff line.

While targeting the best results, pastoral care is integral to our ethos. We offer priceless life lessons of self-reliance, respect and self-confidence, with many opportunities for young people to learn to depend on themselves under the watchful eyes of qualified and experienced staff who genuinely understand the transition from GCSE to Level 3.

Students are known and respected as individuals and have everyday access to their tutor, and we offer expert post-18 advice to help find the best way through all the choices that lie ahead. If you are looking for a friendly sixth form that gives you a warm welcome and has a proven track record of success, please get in touch by visiting www.Thomasadams.net

Are you seeking a sixth form boarding place?

Adams House is an outstanding state boarding school for students aged 11- 18. Increasingly we find that parents are choosing state boarding schools ahead of boarding in the independent sector as they see they can obtain the education and pastoral care they are seeking for a fraction of the cost. Boarding schools are a fantastic option for many families, providing a home away from home that allows young people to focus full attention on their studies and extra-curricular activities. Giving young people a chance to live independently will make them better prepared for their next steps in life, such as university.

Parents pay only for boarding at Adams House, and the government pays for the education as it would at any other state school in England and Wales. By selecting Adams House, parents are choosing top quality boarding care, with staff who are absolutely committed to the wellbeing of young people. It’s a unique setting that promotes common experience, friendship, trust and honesty between young people and adults. We celebrate diversity and are pleased to welcome students from a variety of cultural, religious and ethnic backgrounds.

The lessons in life learned at Adams House will lay a solid foundation for adulthood, and friendships are made that last forever. For boarding enquiries, please contact Mrs N Cooper nc@thomasadams.net
