EHS Sixth Form offers the best of both worlds: independence, a wealth of opportunity and your own space alongside the guidance and support that you would expect in a more structured school setting. Academic standards are high here and we pride ourselves on offering a choice of 28 A-level subjects, from Classical Greek to Psychology.
Wednesday afternoons are given over to the Enrichment programme, an opportunity for students to enhance and complement their studies through personal development, studying a new language, learning a new skill or pursuing a practical interest.
The school is renowned for its outstanding pastoral care and this continues into the Sixth Form. Head of Year 13 Gabi Parsons comments: “We make sure we get to know each of our students really well, so we can offer personalised support to help each girl fulfil her potential. Class sizes and tutorial groups are kept small so we can focus on supporting each individual.
“Students benefit from specialist careers advice and help with post-16 pathways. As well as interview preparation and insight into careers options from guest speakers and alumni, our new Aspiring Progression Teacher is on hand to guide students as they consider their plans.”
Years 12 and 13 represent an exciting time in a student’s career – a chance to be bold and embrace new found independence – and the September 2022 refurbishment of the Sixth Form centre reflects that. With Wi-Fi access throughout, the centre features zoned areas for collaborative and independent learning, an outside sun terrace and a café.
The school has excellent transport links and is located just two miles from Birmingham city centre in Edgbaston. Students travel to EHS from across the West Midlands either on the public transport network or via the school’s minibuses.
