School transport offers easy access across the region with routes into school from Telford, Penkridge, Walsall, Oldbury, Stourbridge and Bridgnorth. There is also free parking for students with their own car. Joining us from other independent, grammar and state schools, all students agree that the close rapport they enjoy with staff is one of the best things about WGS. Each student is supported by a dedicated tutor who will get to know them, see them daily and help them make the most out of school life.

Feeling valued and respected encourages students to greater independence and many set up clubs or societies which they find very rewarding. Students also present to their peers on a variety of topics in our Pudding Lectures series (yes, there is always something sweet on offer!), whilst our ThinkTank Award recognises academic progress, leadership and philanthropy – all valuable evidence to support university and future employment applications.

With a Sixth Form Centre, Sixth Form Library and Common Room with its own café, you will love having your own dedicated space. At the same time you will have access to school-wide extra-curricular activities, as well as specialist facilities such as the Science laboratories, the Hutton Theatre, Art studios, Sports Hall and Design & Technology suite.

WGS offers early support for medical, dentistry, veterinary, as well as Oxbridge applications. One-to-one UCAS and careers advice ensures the best onward pathways post-18 and our expansive alumni network of Old Wulfrunians are regularly engaged to mentor and share university and career experiences with current students.

Our 2022 Leavers secured places at over 30 different universities across the country from St Andrews to Cambridge, studying a vast spectrum of subjects ranging from Architecture and Aeronautical & Spacecraft Engineering to Law, Medicine, History & Politics, Modern Languages, Theatre and even Zoology!

If you are considering applying to Wolverhampton Grammar School, you will be invited for a taster day and interview. We also have a Sixth Form Music Scholarship worth up to 25% fee remission and an OW Sports Scholarship for students living in the Wolverhampton area (WV postcode) which is means-tested and worth up to 100% fee remission. (With all awards, should there be more than one candidate of equal merit, the award may be shared and thus the level of fee remission offered to each individual may be lower.) Families with an annual household income below £60,000 may also contact us to discuss financial assistance in the form of a means-tested bursary.
